1. Why should I / my child take up a music education?

Research shows the importance of elementary music education in brain development.
A solid foundation in reading music notation develops thinking skills, language skills
and self-esteem.

Learning the many languages of music like beats, rhythm, note names, note values
and dynamics develop reading skills essential for tackling more complex languages in academic education.

Sight-reading as a part of music education has been proven to be very useful in brain development, maximizing a student's thinking power

2. Why do we need to use technology to learn music?

• Develops interest in music for the young.
• Enhances creativity skills.
• Provides a greater comprehension of musical concepts.
• Develops faster thinking speed.
• Exposes and improves IT skills.
• Enhances student's concentration power.

Of course, these advantages are not gained simply by the introduction of a computer, electronic instrument, or other device in a music classroom. A knowledgeable educator is essential to make appropriate use of technology, in order to produce the desired results.

3. What are the benefits of music?

It will prepare the student for music exams where grades are recognized and accepted
as the entry qualification for the Music Elective Programme (MEP), now offered at
selected secondary schools. This is an optional additional subject that can be taken for
the GCE 'O' levels.

A music education with MIDIWorld provides students with the foundations need to join the school band, orchestra, or choir.

MIDIWorld's students will gain a competitive edge with an all-rounded find arts & cultural education, provided exclusively through MIDIWorld's fun & interactive lessons, casual concerts and music workshops.

4. Can you tell me more about MIDIWorld teachers?

• All MIDITeachers come from a wide field of music and are fully qualified to impart
the skills of instrumental music to students.
• All have at least a Grade 8 or diploma in teaching / performing.
• Some are NIE-trained in Music Education.
• Some have degrees from recognized universities.
• All have joined us after a number of years in local / foreign music schools.

5. What are MIDIWorld's teaching teachniques?

• We believe that individual instrumental music lessons provide the best quality
and results, as students can follow their own learning curve to progress. We want
our students to really learn and achieve something out of every single lesson
   they attend.

• Regular student progress grading and follow-ups with parents are highly regarded.

• For our non-instrumental courses, we believe in having a small class of not more
than eight students for each teacher, in order to focus sufficient attention to all
and keep track of every student’s performance during the lesson.

• We have a well-planned music curriculum for every lesson, and is organized to
be completed within the programme's duration.

• We cultivate our students to appreciate music the natural way; out of curiosity
and interest. We do not believe in rote learning, where songs are taught by
   imitating sounds and finger movements.

• We do not teach our students the solfege (do, re, mi …) but rather C, D, E …
which totally complements the ABRSM (Associated Board of Royal Schools
of Music) examination standards of music theory.

• We train our students to acquire good sight-reading skills, which will help them
to be musically independent in their future long-term music learning.

6. Does MIDIWorld enable me / my child to take music examinations?

• Yes! MIDIWorld's music curriculum is carefully planned to complement the Trinity
   and ABRSM London examinations.

• Our experienced teachers will recommend students who are ready and interested
to sit for the music exams (practical / theory) and will prepare them adequately to
   meet the latest examination standards.

7. Does everyone need to go through the same progression paths?

• No. Not everyone progresses at the same rate.

• Students who show faster progress and musical potential will be upgraded
   accordingly, with the teacher's recommendation.

We hope we've answered most of your questions. However, should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or speak to our friendly MIDIStaff at
the reception.
